Does anybody know of a place where historical versions of Mystic are stored? The website only seems to have the current alpha and current release versions posted.

I'm in the process of resurrecting my old system, which is on 1.06 (OS/2). Looks like I need to find every version in between 1.06 and 1.12 in order to keep the system in-tact.

I started using Mystic during the alpha phase of 1.10 so have most of those files onwards. That said I'm not sure which software / features you are currently using in the earlier versions would stop working even after correct upgrading.

You'd be better off these days just doing a new installation and reconfiguring it with your old display files and stuff. Unless there is certain data you want to preserve.

It IS possible to upgrade through, but there have been so many changes over
the past 18 years that a fresh installation is probably the way to go. Is there certain data you want to preserve from your old setup?

Also there isn't an 1.12 OS/2 version at the moment...

I have never been able to get OS/2 running in a VMware that allowed me to easily move the code and binaries back and forth to my main Windows machine. If I could get an OS/2 VMware working with a USB stick or something, then I could continue to support the OS/2 version...

A few people have tried but we've never been successful. Maybe that could change with Blue Lion but I don't want to spend the money on a license just
to experiment with the idea.

Its too bad they don't have a free license for freeware developers to use to support their platform...

I don't think support for OS/2 is necessary. I've moved my install to Windows (OS/2 is too much of a pain to get to work well with TCP/IP these days). Warp was wicked for it's day, but it's past it's prime.

The thing I was hoping to keep was the message boards. I had about 25 years worth of old fidonet stuff on there that was imported from my old Searchlight setup.

I was able to get the old 1.06 setup working under Win32 and netfoss. I think the only thing I had to tinker with was the modem/com port setup.

This is why I run my BBS in an VM running ArcaOS 5 Professional :)

Yeah, I believe the newer versions of Mystic no longer support OS/2. But, I DO
remember your name from the day :) I believe you used to hang out in "certain" OS/2 channels on EfNet back in the day when it was cool to do so :)

Have you had any luck running SIO2k on ArcaOS? I was putzing around with it for about a week and after I finally got it to work, it was really slow -- to the point where the traffic was unusable. I used SIO for years but it looks like it depends on the
older MPTN tcp/ip stack from OS/2 3.5 and 4.0.

Okay, we can preserve that for sure. Are you using JAM message bases?

I can probably write a little utility that would convert your message base configuration from 1.06 to 1.12. Then depending on if you're using JAM or not you may just be able to copy the data files into the MSGS folder and be good to go on 1.12.

first if your running the native os/2 version the last build is 1.07.3 other then that there are no more dos version after 1.07.3 you would have to stay with your os/2 version and upgrade to 1.07.3.
