    To be out 3/17/2017...

Disney needs to stop messing with the classics... to this I whole
heartedly say NOPE ... I'm not down with it.

    oh good grief...

how is this any different that the (1987 - 1990) TV show that starred Linda Hamilton as Catherine Chandler (aka Beauty) and Ron Perlman as Vincent Keller (aka Beast)?

how about the one from 2012 - 2016 starring Kristin Kreuk as Catherine Chandler
(aka Beauty) and Jay Ryan as Vincent Keller (aka Beast)?

then there's the 2015 movie Descendents with Keegan Connor Tracy as Queen Belle
(ala Beauty) and Dan Payne as King Adam (aka Beast)... this one even has Cruella De Vil, Maleficent, the Evil Queen and Jafar if you remember them from other Disney related stories...

there's been a lot of remakes of fairy tales that Disney brought to life... how
many Snow Whites? there's "Snow White and the Huntsman" (2012) where Kristen Stewart played Snow White and Charlize Theron played the evil Queen... then there's "Mirror Mirror" (2012) with Lily Collins as Snow White and Julia Roberts as the evil Queen... both are good remakes of the original fairy tale even if they aren't musicals...

"Enchanted" was another one but was more of a mixture of several fairy tales...
it starred Amy Adams as Giselle and Susan Sarandon as the evil Queen... James Marsden played the Prince and Giselles designated true love but she actually falls in love with Patrick Dempsey, a divorce lawyer, who is the one to wake her from the poison apple spell with "true love's first kiss"... mostly kinda "Snow White" but with other traits from "Cinderella" and "Sleeping Beauty" and a few other fairy tales...

i think Emma Watson as Belle (aka Beauty) and Dan Stevens as Prince Adam (aka Beast) will be a good musical remake of the original animation... the big question is if i'll be able to watch it or if i'll end up sleeping through it but that won't be answered for a few years until it comes out on TV...

That one was remade by the CW starting Kristen Kreuk the Disney one
is the classic fairy tale story... only with a live action photo
realistic talking candlestick, clock, cup and saucer.

Trust me, it was absolutely saddening that they take classic stories
like this and re-do them. I liked the story behind the new Pete's
dragon, but it as nothing like the 1970's version... I took my
little cousins to see it and they did like the movie, but when I
pulled out the old DVD of the 1970's version they liked it better.

I have the live action one with Linda Hamilton (I thought she was so
beautiful in that show) on DVD. I inherited it from my aunt that
passed away. It was really beautifully produced the sets were so
rich and they did a good job with Vincent.

I do not like the Kristen Kreuk version ... it started strong but as
the story progressed I did not like where they went with it and got
    bored with it.

But that's not the "Disney" side of the coin.

The cartoon "Tale as old as time" and the play were something
special I took my little cousins too... (Yeah I'm the cool "uncle"
that's really a cousin) I even take a lot of the neighborhood kids
with us when we go movie. Thank GOD for the $1.50 value theater.

This new one, while the effects look intensely intersting, does not
appeal to me... it seems like they are just re-doing it for the sake
of making a buck and upgrading it to something that will hold the
attention of the "modern" kids who think what we liked back in the
    day sucks.

My little cousins must be wierd they usually will like the older
stuff better. But then they understand how to use a rotary dial on
    a land line.

I thought that they made a broadway play out of Beauty and the Beast. I figured that this was just the movie version of the play.

Watch out! They made a broadway play out of the Lion King too. Maybe we can expect to see that made into film too.
