I just wanted to say especially sad for me. I JUST returned from seeing Star >Wars Rogue One and the last face on the screen was Princess Leia.

Personally I'm NOT butt hurt when the artist changes something. I
thouroughly enjoyed the Special Editions and the changes that were
made!

Anakin in II and III was a spoiled brat... it was like they knew we already knew he was going to become Vader so they did not even try to
make him likeable, even though Obi-Wan talked him up like he was a big hero in the original series. Darth Vader is more likeable than II/III Anakin.

It was not in the original SE's. That was something they went back and redid later still. Like I said, Vader was more likeable than era
II/III "Annie".

To be honest, if they use the technology to replace actors who are deceased to keep the character going (instead of "pulling a Darren")
I'm ok with it. Now if they went back to her "younger years"... it'd
be a toss up. But at this point, I don't think I'd accept "a close look-alike" in the sequel.

To be honest, I'm getting pickier and crankier in my older years (approaching my mid-40's, I'm practically a "get off my lawn you stupid kids" cranky).
I'm really getting tired of reboots and re-writes and sequels to movies that are decades old written by people with very little connection to
the original.
I cherish my old stories and I don't want them messed with. Like the "new" BattleStar Galactica, for instance. When I found Glen Larson was involved, I watched it. If the B5 reboot has JMS involved I'll watch
it.
If not? Dunno... I'll wait to see what others say regarding it being close to the original vision.

Trek is Star Trek. If you turn around and mess with it, like JJ did... It's not Star Trek for me anymore. It's something kinda like it.
Why didn't he just make his own universe instead? Just like with Star Wars... They declared everything out side of the movies to be
"potentially invalid". All the books... all the games.... all the expanded universe stuff. All because JJ was too lazy to come up with
his own completely original idea.
But again, I see your point and I'll raise you respect and an 'agree
to disagree.' :-)
