    Not trying to be an ass, but just a bit of levity, was wondering if there was some echo rule that says you can not change the subject line on a thread even LONG after the original subject line is no longer valid? :)

    ie: "In Memoriam" no longer has ANYTHING to do with the memory of Carrie Fisher.

    LOL - I don't know if there's a rule, but I do try to remember to
    change it on my reply if it's really changed. :-)

    The simple answer to that isn't simple. It's a combination of laziness and a user or SysOp being at the mercy of the editor they are using. There are editors like the two I use that have the capability of changing the Subj: line,
    but then that messes up the threads that others use and follow. Another thing that can be done is to put the new thread name on the Subj: line and adding to it "Was whatever it was".

    This is the same throughout Fidonet, but the caveat is that not many actually read that line. (-:

    And not to be pedantic, but does that not occur in the other nets you belong to?
