Considering I get barely over $1000 a month in disability (some
months, it's rough)...and you've got these greedy Congress folks whining that "they can't survive on $175,000 a year". They don't have a clue.

But, but, but Daryl, you have to understand they have expenses you don't know
about, that we little people don't have.
They have to have two or three houses* (one in the home state, around DC and a summer home). They have servants to pay for. I mean someone has to cook, clean, and take care of them.
They have to throw lavish parties with caviar and all that. Those things don't come cheap.
Plus they need a fleet of cars for them, their staff, body guards, etc. And you don't expect them to ride around in some year old econo box car or drive themselves.
And there staff alone is expensive. They need assistants, assistants to the visitants, office staff (you don't expect them to read/answer their own mail do
you? They're too important for that.
I could go on but you get the idea.

I'll have you know that OLX nearly crashed for the flood of sarcasm
that was dripping from that message. :P

I'll bet he was a big one for acquiring political pork in his
    district.

Sort of like when my elderly Mom kept having to go back to the
hospital over a year ago, before she had pacemaker surgery. Her PCP
quipped "Have they named a room or ward for you yet, since you've been
    there so often lately??". :P

No matter how bad the economy may be, come election time the pol's (both parties) all seem to be swimming in money.

All the money that is spent on ads (radio, TV, print, etc.), plus
things like signs, T-Shirts, caps, bumper stickers, banners, etc. could
wipe out the national debt, and we'd have enough money for Social
Security and Medicare. I think it's in the trillions of dollars.

One thing I get a chuckle out of is the media complaining each election time about all the money being spent then spend upteen hours running ads. :)
If they are so concerned about the money being spent then don't take the money to run ads or run them for free.

You know darn well they won't turn down all that money. I've even
heard where "regular local business customers" got their commercials
BUMPED by the political ads, because they paid more money.
