    years) to run just fine on regular, 87 octane.
    Very few cars (and those are on the tippy top end), need more than

    Most turbo-charged engines need at least 91 or 93... and if not given a
    high enough octane will run so poorly it actually costs more in gas than
    if you pay a little more at the pump for the right octane... I've
    personally found that to be true... :)

    The Ethanol markings on the pump usually are on the side

    I don't like using ethanol simply because we are using a food
    product (corn) to power our cars. We are burning food to go to the
    store to buy more food. I had a 1970 Chrysler that hated unleaded
    gas. It had a bad case of run on when the engine was shut off. Surprisingly it did run well on ethanol. At the time (early to mid
    80s) there were only a very few places that sold it.

    I had an Aries once that didn't like ethanol at all.. it did something
    nasty to the carburator, as I recall... I was on a trip, and got gas
    from a place that had put ethanol in but hadn't advertised it on the
    pumps... almost got stranded, the car worked so poorly... The current
    engines seem do be happier on the ethanol, though...
