No doubt! Around here, people drive less than the limit in the left
lane thinking that no one will pass them. They are wrong.
Unfortunately, law enforcement rarely stops people for doing this,
either, which is why they keep on doing it.

One thing that gets me, and its more and more common, at least
around here, there will be an accident and that lane is closed for
hours at a time. I'm not talking about some mass pileup, but a
minor, or relatively minor, accident with less than four cars.
I don't think it should take four or five hours to take people to hospital, pick up the pieces and sweep up the glass and haul off the

It seems everyday here I read of some accident on the interstate and
one lane or the other is closed for hours with a picture of one or two cars involved.
I can understand if something big has crashed (loaded
semi, house trailer, etc) it would take a while to clean up.
A long clean up I saw years ago was when a pickup pulling a
Airstream trailer made a sudden turn for an exit. The truck made it
ok but the trailer came loose and rolled along the road some distance falling apart along the way. Bits and pieces of it was all over the
road, along with what had been inside.

fancy sports car thought he could beat everyone and drove along the shoulder until he finally had to stop. All the people he raced past
just waved as they passed him when traffic was moving again. :)

Not only do you have the unfortunate circumstance of injury or loss of life,but also the unfortunate circumstance of lawyers likely getting involved.

depending on the accident, they may have the area closed down for an extended period of time while they clean up hazardous materials
spills... especially if a fuel tank ruptured and spilled fuel into the roadside soils...
