    As I wend my way around the country its a measure of both.
    MI and TX were probably the best with detour warnings, signs, when it
    ended, etc. They were actually the best with road signs period.
    I think it was Indiana where the road forked and nothing. Both well
    used and busy, both leading to businesses, etc.
    Whenever I come to an unmarked fork in the road I generally take the
    wrong one.
    Most places will have the road one wants sign just past the fork. Some states one can drive for miles without any signs at all and go far afield
    then have to find some connecting road or back track.

    That's one time I really am glad to have a real map in the car,
    preferably one that shows ALL the roads.... ;)

    Since I try to stay off the interstates AMAP, finding a good state map
    is tough. Sometimes a motel near the state line will offer them. Most
    states have welcome centres with free maps, all but one were only located
    on the interstates. One place I stopped sold real paper maps and paid
    for one only to find where I was going (a few miles away) had them for
    free. :(

    It's more like a spoon with a hole in it, to make up for all the
    potholes.

    AAA has an office in west Little Rock, but I haven't used maps in a
    long time. The train trip I take this fall has someone else doing the
    driving, and my route to and from Clinton, Arkansas (Hillary is nowhere
    in the mix..as she's a detour <EG>), is rather simple.
