i'm not sure but he may have left the network(s)... his software has/had problems generating duplicate MSGIDs which cause new posts to be bitbucketed as
dupes even though the message body and header showed that they were not dupes... last i heard was something about him maybe dropping the networks and just doing a local BBS with no networks other than possibly QWK networks which removes fidonet from the stable...

The other problem with getting older is you start to lose enough close family that every holiday has something... but the loss of a child is a totally different story. I hope you can manage to find some peace this season.
