(Continued from previous message)
I've known hams as young as 5 to over 100...and with the young kids,
we don't need those kind of people in the hobby!!
There were many times people would say they were going to report
me for giving them a ticket, whatever. I always gave them
directions to the office. That really frosted them! :)
LOL!!
There were rumours this was a reason that lead to his somewhat sudden
"retirement" if you get my drift.
Every time something like this comes up, folks start talking about
"the death penalty" that was placed on Southern Methodist University
(SMU) in Dallas, by the NCAA...where it shut the football program down.
I don't know if there has been a case where the entire athletic
department is shut down (i.e. no competitions allowed).
The other day someone hacked my savings account (a number I have never, ev
given out) for close to $1,000. I went to the bank about this.
I was a victim of identity theft once. The bank reimbursed the
account, but I had to get new accounts, cards, etc. I only have a debit
card now...after going through Chapter 13 Bankruptcy several years ago. Besides, I don't make enough money to have a credit card...and basically
never bothered to try to rebuild my credit...even though my record is
now clean. I wish the bankruptcy had stayed on there, though...it
would've been an "instant red flag" for someone trying to steal my
identity, and start a credit card account.
I was talking with the woman handling this and somehow in the conversatio
she said she had attended Marshall. (I think it along of what I did for a JM>living). I asked when and she mentioned the years and had gotten a lot of JM>tickets. I said probably from me and she said most likely, since I was rath JM>well known (by reputation). I said you probably deserved them. She hung he JM>head and said yes, she did, but it was days she was running late for class. JM>then said the solution to that problem is to get up earlier and we had a lau JM>over all that.
The only time I'm up before sunrise is for medical reasons, or to be
at a ham radio related event.
(Yes she is still working on settling the matter and in addition gave me
bunch of beenies for being a vet, such as higher interest on savings, no JM>minimum balance, free safety deposit box, etc.
Good deal.
I heard of one bank that had a parking garage, and you had to get your
ticket validated to have "free parking". Yet, for this one guy, they
would NOT validate his ticket. All he wanted to do was cash a
check...and NOT make a deposit -- they didn't consider "cashing a check"
a "transaction worthy of validation".
So, he said "Well, it shows that you don't need me...and I certainly
don't need you. I have a large amount of money here, and I wish to close
my account out right now!!". The manager was summoned to try to talk the
guy out of it, but his mind was made up. He closed the account, and took
the large amount of funds to a competitor bank in town. Needless to
say, they were thrilled to have him...and did whatever they could, to
keep him happy. :)
When I trained new people I told them not to let comments get to them. Th
they would be called everything but a child of God. Don't say anything in JM>anger when that violator is around, but once out of ear shot one could do JM>whatever to release the tension.
Just like the proverb notes "A soft word turns away wrath, but
grievous words stir up anger"...so true.
