From Daryl Stout@1:19/33 to JOE MACKEY on Mon Nov 6 12:32:00 2017
    Joe,

The city does that even for expired meters. The guy takes at least three
pictures: of the vehicle in general, with the plate and one of the car at th JM>dead meter. No more can someone claim the meter had time when they got the JM>tickets.

I'll bet they still try, though. :P

I have a lot of meter stories and have heard all sorts of excuses.
One that comes to mind was a few years ago.

Amazing how those things are recalled. Sort of like Lily "Ernestine"
Tomlin's skit as the telephone operator, calling General Motors. I dare
you to watch this and not laugh!! :D

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RT4_Nz5HWY

I was on a meter lot and had just written a ticket and moved a few cars a
when the owner of that car came running up complaining he had time on the JM>meter. I went with him to check it and he said he had paid for an hour and JM>only gone for 45 minutes. At the meter it read exactly 30 minutes. (They w JM>a quarter for 30 minutes. Two quarters an hour, etc. No 15 minutes). I as JM>"You paid for an hour and only gone 45 minutes?" Yes he said. I then asked JM>how does the meter show exactly 30 minutes? Busted.

    ZING!!

He said he knew my security boss and was going to report me. I told him
    go right ahead.

At one of the ham radio festivals (hamfests) in Oklahoma City a few
years ago, one examinee came in 15 minutes before we had to be out of
the room. The Volunteer Examiner (VE) Team Leader told him "he was too late"...and the guy went ballistic!! He demanded to know his supervisor,
and he gave him the woman's name.

The leader called the Volunteer Examiner Coordinator (VEC) first thing
Monday morning, and advised them of what happened (and he had also put
in a note with such, with all the exam material results). I think it's
safe to say that the woman gave that guy "a piece of her mind"..saying
that "the VE Team Leader was within his rights to deny late comers". The
VEC is the organization that prepares the exams (which are administered
by VE Teams in the field), and they transmit the data to the FCC.

I do the same at my sessions. One can't be "fashionably late" to a
license exam session. We usually allow walk-ins up to 30 minutes after
the session start time...figuring if they're not going to be there by
that time, they're not going to take the test.

Also, they have now added "The Felony Question" to the license
application form. The examinee has to answer whether or not they've been convicted of a felony in state or federal court. If the answer is "yes",
they have to submit all pertinent documentation to the FCC, within 14
days of the exam session, or the ham radio license application will be dismissed.

I've heard of several cases of "sex offenses" with certain
    individuals:

    1) A local ham (who was also a lawyer) got busted in a sex sting
operation in Burns Park in North Little Rock. Strangely, a local TV
weatherman got busted there as well. The weatherman was fired, and the
joke was that they were going to change the station's call letters from
    KTHV to KTHIV. <G>

    2) Another local ham (who was also a BBS Sysop at the time), was caught
with over 10,000 images of kiddie porn on his system. I understand he
spent time in the State Prison...and he likely had some "experiences"
    there. :P

    3) A ham in northwest Arkansas was busted for an incestuous relationship
with his 2 daughters. He went to prison, and lost his license over it.

    4) Another ham in Oklahoma, a convicted sex offender, was using "packet
radio" to send solicitous messages to young hams. The ham who ran the
BBS, when he discovered what happened, nearly quit the hobby.

    Been scrubbed already.
I worked part time on weekends in college as a large motel night auditor. Among the duties was running the switchboard, making wake up calls, etc.
I really liked that old switchboard, the kind with a head set, wires plugged in and pulled out, dialing the numbers, etc.
I was a big fan of Ernestine and when making a wake up call often said "One ringy dingy, two ringy dingy's..." as the phone rang.

    I totally agree.
I always try to be punctual, if not early, for work, meetings, etc.
I once worked Sundays from 0430-1730 as security for a factory. (That was a great post since the place closed and paid to do next to nothing. Did a lot of
reading and when I got a laptop I downloaded it with a lot of stuff to read (did a lot of my Memories reading and replying, which was sent out when I got home. Wireless was only a fig newton of someone's imagination at the time.)
When security relieves someone it's courtesy to arrive a few minutes before the shift starts for info on whatever and the one leaving can get away on time.
I'd arrive about 0420 and the other guy nearly knocked me down running out the door. He was to relived me 1730 but never arrived until 1729.59.
We had a woman in the parking office who was to start at 0800 but never arrived until 0840 (the boss came in at 0845), and always put down her start time at 0800.
Everyday it was some excuse (traffic, weather, school bus, train, etc) that held her up. One day I innocently asked if she had these happen everyday why didn't she leave earlier? Boy, the look she gave me!

Also, they have now added "The Felony Question" to the license application form. The examinee has to answer whether or not they've been convicted of a felony in state or federal court.

When I am asked something like this I reply, No, I had a good lawyer.

    2) Another local ham (who was also a BBS Sysop at the time), was caught with over 10,000 images of kiddie porn on his system.

One day at lunch there was a story on the noon news about someone around here
arrested when that was found by a computer repair shop and turned in. I joked,
"I better do some cleaning of my computer when I get home". That was not well received by the cops. (I gotta have a talk with my mouth sometime when to keep
    quiet).

I understand he spent time in the State Prison...and he likely had some
    "experiences" there. :P

    No doubt about that.
The convicts code allows almost anything, excepting harming children in some way. If someones goes to prison for they are dead meat, at best.

The other day someone hacked my savings account (a number I have never,
ever given out) for close to $1,000. I went to the bank about this.

I was a victim of identity theft once.

Some years ago someone got my debit card number and run up hundreds of dollars on porn sites. The bank called them and got all but $40 back. Also a new card, etc.
I have a credit card with a $200 limit and only use it often enough to keep the account active. And I pay off the balance early so no interest.
If I go on a trip or something I just move whatever amount I'll need and a little over from savings to checking with the unspent balance moved back.

Besides, I don't make enough money to have a credit card...and basically
never bothered to try to rebuild my credit

I was in a bad financial shape 20 years ago and lived on credit cards, maxing
out several, until I was working steady again. Took a long time to pay those off and worked with an agency. They put a hold on any collections, the credit card people worked with them only and not allowed to contact me. A certain amount was deducted from my bank each month and placed in a sort of escrow. When enough was collected to pay one card that was taken care of and work started on the other.

I wish the bankruptcy had stayed on there, though

    Never filed for bankruptcy.

then said the solution to that problem is to get up earlier and we had a laugh over all that.

The only time I'm up before sunrise is for medical reasons, or to be
at a ham radio related event.

I am generally up each day by 0500 anyway. And in bed by 2100.
If I happen to be working evenings or midnight those hours are changed of course.

When I trained new people I told them not to let comments get to them.

Just like the proverb notes "A soft word turns away wrath, but
grievous words stir up anger"...so true.

Works in security in general. I don't have time to argue with people and does no good anyway. Its not going to change either's mind.
I use three ways to discuss with people: As an adult to an adult, as an adult
to a child and as an adult down to a level they can understand.
Often its "I see we are getting nowhere. The conversation is over" and walk away.
    Joe

Amazing how technology has changed. Now, for the most part, even the

I'd rather be EARLY for a doctors appointment, because if you're more
than 10 minutes late, you have to reschedule...and it can be several
weeks before you can get in. If you don't show up, you have to pay the
    fee anyway.

Several years ago, at my former PCP, I was to have a colonoscopy done.
I got there shortly after the clinic opened at 7:30am, but my procedure
wasn't until 8:30am. Around 8:15am, they called me back there...but
several people who had been in the waiting room before I arrived were
rather miffed that "I was going first!!". When one person growled "I was
here long before he was!!", the nurse retorted "He's having a procedure done!!", and closed the door...at which point, I busted out laughing.
But, I laid nude on the hard, cold exam table for 3 hours, before the
doctor finally showed up. At least he didn't have a book entitled
"Colonoscopy 101"...I really would've been worried, then!! :P

How dare you question her integrity... just because it was

getting to work on time... and like your 'friend' at the factory job,
was always ready to leave early....

talk with my mouth sometime when to keep quiet).

Some jokes aren't really funny.... more like pretending to have
contraband at customs... or firearms when going through security at the airport... one is likely to be taken seriously and arrested on the
spot... ;) And then having the book thown at them for giving a false statement.... :)

I have a credit card with a $200 limit and only use it often enough
to keep the account active. And I pay off the balance early so no interest. If I go on a trip or something I just move whatever amount
I'll need and a little over from savings to checking with the unspent balance moved back.

That's a safe and wise way to deal with money... And one can use credit
cards like cash... by paying them off in full when the bill comes...
That's especially useful when the card has some sort of rebate attached
to it.... :) And in today's society, one needs some sort of credit in
order to produce a good credit report... paying cash only totally isn't recorded...

I was in a bad financial shape 20 years ago and lived on credit

paperwork to fill out. My late wife got me started with a "med list". It
    has the following:

    1) Personal and Contact Information
    2) All my doctors and specialists, including my PCP
    3) All my surgeries
    4) All my conditions
    5) All my medicines (prescription and over the counter)
    6) Other Concerns with procedures and medications
    7) Today's Issues

I print a fresh copy every time I go the doctors office, hospital,
outpatient clinic, emergency room, etc. When they ask me for my medical
stuff, I hand the deal over, and say "read this!!" -- it's up to 7 pages
    now!! <G>.

It's like catching a bus. Be early/on time and the bus is late. Be 10
seconds late and you see the buses tail lights going down the street.

Or like the train...seeing the red lights on the last car fade in the distance as he heads down the tracks without you.

But, I laid nude on the hard, cold exam table for 3 hours, before the
    doctor finally showed up.

    But of course.

    It's like "You have a 10:30 appointment?? I'll see you at 12:45". :P

    can't eat them anymore...just like corn...which is a real drag, as I
*LOVE* corn...whole kernel, creamed, on the cob, fried, etc.

    Fried corn??

Yep...you cook it up in a skillet. I couldn't tell you the exact way
to do it, but it sure was good.

Back in my drinking days a guy I knew, who was equally into his cups, was
crashing here one night. He woke me at some point during the night asking i JM>he could fix some macaroni and cheese. Sure I said sleepily.
Shortly after I was awakened again by the smell of smoke. Turned out he w
trying to make mac and cheese in a skillet. He had just put in some oil, th JM>dry mac and the cheese and stirring it around. He thought that was the way JM>was made.

    Sheesh...was he blonde?? :P

The microwave ones are better, but they still warn you to "put water
up to the fill line, to prevent a fire". I could've gotten the TV dinner
with that, but I wanted something more.

I forget how much a month the company I was working with took out of my
cheque each month, but around $200.

I took it down to the area post office, where the court ususally had
their mail, and had it sent certified/return receipt. They usually got
    it the same day.

I've never been able to take naps. I usually wake up more tired than when
    went to sleep.

Frequent naps prevent old age...especially if taken while driving. :P

I knew someone who felt "I may not always be right...but I'm never
    wrong". You figure it out.

Sounds like most of my bosses/superiors. :)

I'd make a comment on "boss", but it'd violate the rules of the echo.
    :P

If looks could kill, you probably would've crumpled to the floor!!

I would have been laying down, with a lily in my hand...

    Exactly.

It reminds me of "An Aggie Mom's letter to her son" (in reference to
Texas A&M in College Station, Texas -- they do have an excellent
meteorology department, from what I understand).

"Your uncle Amos drowned in a vat at the local brewery last week.
Several co-workers dove in to save him, but he fought them off bravely.
As he went down for the third time, you saw a big smile across his face.
The family thought it cheaper to cremate the remains, but that was a big mistake, as it took 3 days to put out the ensuing fire". <BG>

It was in the early-mid 70s.
I was going cross country and had to change trains in Cincinnati.
Normally when the other train is on the other track its just walk across the platform. In Cincinnati you had to go up a set of stairs, make a U turn at the
top and back down again. (There was a metal fence separating the two tracks on
    the platform).
The first time I did this I was taking my time. The C&O was late (surprise, surprise) and had to hustle to catch the NYC to Chicago.
As I came down the stairs the NY Central was starting to pull out.
I yelled at the conductor on the trains platform I was coming and ran as fast

In 1968 I bought my first car, a 1953 Chevy Bel Air. I had a 12 month loan and paid it off in 10.
Before the year was up I got a nice little letter from Uncle Sam.
When I returned I went back to that bank to get another loan. They claimed I
had never had an account with them. Even showing them cancelled cheques, the loan payment book and other things. They claimed that proved nothing.

(Hey, it was boring sometimes and had to do something to entertain myself.

All you needed now was a wig. :P

Bet they love seeing you come through the door. :)

My late wife got me started on that. But, it makes it so much easier
for them. I had to go to the doctor yesterday, as I thought I was having
a relapse of bronchitis. It's a bad sinus infection, so they gave me antibiotics, and a steroid shot in the hip (had to drop everything for
    it :P ).

The shot didn't hurt, but my hip was sore for 15 minutes afterwards.
Then, the steroid "jacked me up" where I could NOT fall asleep until
5:30am the next morning. I slept for about 20 minutes, and woke up. So,
I updated the weather data on the BBS, and went back to bed for 3 hours.

In going out to get meds, a warning light came on in the car. So, I
took it out to the service place, and I've got a coolant leak, with
either the hose or the radiator. I was home all day today, and hope to
get the car back tomorrow. Thankfully, it didn't overheat on the way out there...but while it's there, I'm getting it winterized, etc.

One of the computer models was saying we'd have a huge Thanksgiving
Day blizzard here in one model run earlier today. The next run of it,
    all the snow was gone.

Normally when the other train is on the other track its just walk

I remember on one train trip down to Longview, Texas on the train

We write checks to pay the Utilities (Telephone, Water, Electric, Sewer).

Since being discharged from Chapter 13 Bankruptcy, I only have a debit
card. I either pay cash for a purchase, use a debit card, or it's set up
as an electronic funds transfer (EFT). I never did bother getting a new
credit card (I don't get enough on disability to afford one). I still
take part in "identity theft monitoring" from Experian and Discover
Card, as I was the victim of identity theft before I went into
bankruptcy. Nowadays, if someone tells me that I'm eligible for a credit
card, I tell them I'm in bankruptcy.

Which means Two Strikes against us with Equifax, TransUnion and Experian EV>because (I think) they don't count those two ways in calculating a Credit EV>Rating for anyone.

I doubt I have a credit score, and never bothered to check it. When I
had to put my car into the shop this week, my Mom asked "why didn't you
see if you could rent a car??", I said that "they require credit, and I
don't have any". There was rain and storms out earlier today, and when
the weather is bad, I stay home, unless it's an emergency.

time otherwise there would be problems. Some of the guys knew better than the docs (of course) and just sat down.
The following morning where the sound of all these bodies falling out their racks due to muscle cramps where the legs didn't work right for a while. :)

Then, the steroid "jacked me up" where I could NOT fall asleep until 5:30am the next morning. I slept for about 20 minutes, and woke up. So,
I updated the weather data on the BBS, and went back to bed for 3 hours.

I occasionally can't get to sleep. When that happens I give myself till a certain time and if still awake then I'll go on and get up. Sometimes the very idea puts me to sleep as I lay there thinking "If I don't get to sleep by (x time) I'll just stay up. I have lots of little projects I can work on".

    I've got a coolant leak,

One time I got a leak in my then car. I was near home and would pull over from time to time to let it cool down and continued on. It was like driving a steam car* with steam coming from under the hood, hissing and all that.
Didn't damage the engine any. I found a small hole in a hose the next day (plenty of time to cool down), replaced it and back in business.
I used to carry screwdrivers, hammers, pliers, spare hoses and belts in the trunk in case anything went wrong. Along with blankets in case I broke down in
    winter.
Can't do that on cars today. So many hoses, belts, etc crammed in there you can't even see the engine.

One of the computer models was saying we'd have a huge Thanksgiving
Day blizzard here in one model run earlier today. The next run of it,
    all the snow was gone.

I often wonder where in the world weather services get their information. One will call for fair skies another a storm of some sort.
The other day Weatherbug (which I use most often) called for just cloudy skies, yet the radar showed a green swatch of rain headed our way.
Ok, which is it? Just clouds or rain?

    * When I was in high school I helped a teacher restore his nine passenger 1914 Stanley Steamer Mountain Wagon. It was one of a few the Stanley Brothers built to transport guests from the train station to their big hotel in Estes Park, CO.
That was a big job and while the teacher did the technical work (I am not a mechanic by any means) I did the small work like spending hours sanding the steering wheel and wooden wheel spokes , varnish, sand, etc.
When it was finished I went on the test ride giving turn signals since it was
right hand drive. The teacher sold it to a museum in OK and made a nice bit of
profit and retired from teaching moving to Estes Park.
The hotel the Stanley's had there is reputed to be once of the most haunted hotels in this country with the old man and his wife still there along with several others.

That's a safe and wise way to deal with money... And one can use credit
cards like cash... by paying them off in full when the bill comes... -snip-
Having paid off your house mortgage (or car loans) does count towards
your score, though.... as long as they still have it on the books...
And if you have those still open, they can affect your score for good
or bad... Admittedly, what goes into a high score is having credit
cards and using the credit wisely... actually using them, how long
you've had them, and how much headspace you keep on them (ie, don't overextend yourself)....

Its been ages since the Mortgage was paid, same o same o for auto loans.
My idea of using credit cards 'wisely' is not to use them at all.

It has been a long time since I asked for a free Credit Report, guess I
ought to ask for one now since all of the Hoop-a-La about the recent
    Breach.

And once they were all paid off, you'd repaired your credit as
well as getting your debts off your back... :)

I entered Chapter 13 Bankruptcy in late 2009, but have since been discharged from it. I never did bother to rebuild my credit, as the bankruptcy was on the credit reports until a few months ago. Yet, I
don't get enough money in disability to have a credit card, but I do
    have a debit card.

There are secured cards that you'd probably be able to get, were you
interested in rebuilding credit... The debit card is probably a wiser
    choice at this point though....

I don't know if it'd be worth it to try to get one...but, I'm in no
    hurry to get one again.

Having readily accessible credit can be a trap, especially if one is on
a limited fixed income... it's way too easy to "put it on the card" and
then not be able to pay the bill when it comes...

Having paid off your house mortgage (or car loans) does count towards
your score, though.... as long as they still have it on the books...

    In 1968 I bought my first car, a 1953 Chevy Bel Air. I had a 12
month loan and paid it off in 10.
Before the year was up I got a nice little letter from Uncle Sam.
When I returned I went back to that bank to get another loan. They claimed I had never had an account with them. Even showing them
cancelled cheques, the loan payment book and other things. They
    claimed that proved nothing.

As I said, as long as it stays on the books... That bank had way too
    short a memory... <G>

I went to another bank and no problems.

Sounds like a different bank would have been the right choice to begin
with, actually... ;) I got my first credit card on the basis of
showing my payment stub part of my loan payment book for my paid off
auto loan, at a different bank, in a different city... but the officer
I was dealing with saw it as sufficient proof to open the card account
for me... :) Various banks have merged, been taken over etc, so now
it's a totally different bank that issues that card, but I still have
it... and have kept it open... whenever they try to change terms on me
where I'd find it detrimental, I call them and tell them how very sorry
I would be to have to close that account, and they've usually backed
down quickly, to keep me as a customer... ;)

    Joe,

-a All you needed now was a wig. :P

Never went that far. Nor a dress either. :)

When I had to dance the girls part in square dancing (which is much
more difficult, and much more work than the guys part...especially with twirling, being "swung", etc.), I bought a pair of bright red pettipants...which is what the ladies normally wear under their outfits,
so you don't see their panties when their skirts twirl, as it were.

Normally, in square dancing...especially at a singles club, there are
far more women than men...so, the men dance every "tip", but not every
woman gets to dance...especially the single ones. But, for several weeks
about 20 years ago, there was a shortage of women at the dances!! Having learned the woman's part at the 1988 National Square Dance Convention in Anaheim, California, I had 2 philosophies:

    1) Square dancers do it on the floor, in groups of eight, with no sex,
    in all positions. <G>

Now, if you're a non-dancer, it sounds rather kinky. But, to a dancer
who dances what they call DBD or APD (dance by definition or all
position dancing), you're not necessarily a male or a female, but the
"end" or the "center" in a particular "formation". This can be a "line",
    a "wave", a "column", a "diamond", a "galaxy", a "triangle", etc.

To me, I hate the "vanilla same old same old dance figures", where I
could do it in my sleep. I want to exercise my mind and my body. One
former Arkansas caller noted dancing was "a mental enema"...and it is
truly a catharsis. You can't think of anything else while on the dance
floor, and you have to be sober. We do NOT allow alcoholic beverages
before or during a square dance, and that's a hard and fast rule,
worldwide. I've seen where they've ordered violators to leave the
    premises.

At the 1997 Single Square Dancers USA Labor Day Dance-A-Rama in
Nashville, Tennessee, I "had a quick and dirty sex change"...I became a
"girl", in the formation. So, I just flipped my cap backwards, where the
bill of it was toward the back. The national caller, Dee Dee
Dougherty-Lottie (who can yodel the paint off the side of a barn...but
also wears super tight pants (I hate women who do that)), stopped the
music, and said to me "I've got enough trouble without you giving me
hell"!! It brought the house down in laughter. <G> That was also the
year that we were "caught on Candid Camera"!! :P

    2) If being a "girl" keeps 7 other dancers from sitting down, I'll do
    it.

At one "graduation dance" years ago, I intentionally trashed out the
caller. I had worn suspenders, as I had lost 25 pounds after I started
dancing. Back then, you could dance in the Little Rock area every night
of the week, with 30 total clubs in the area alone. But now, there are
just over a dozen clubs left in the state. :(

Anyway, when one girl popped the suspenders, I dropped the slacks, to
reveal the pettipants, and a badge with a quarter on it, and the words
"Touch A Quarter" intentionally on the right fanny flank. Another lady
friend took a bunch of pictures, then I took the slacks off, and danced
the girls part the rest of the tip. One of the students thought I was a "perverted voyeur" (I was still decently clad, as it were)...and another
woman said "you must've been mortified". I told her "Honey, I absolutely
had the time of my life!!" <BG>.

Reminds me of when in boot camp all the guys got a series of shots. Don't
remember what any of them were for. I think the usual "tropical diseases" a JM>so forth.
Some were in the arm, some in the hip.

Talk about shooting from the hip. <G>

When we got the hip shots we were told to walk around for a certain period
time otherwise there would be problems. Some of the guys knew better than t JM>docs (of course) and just sat down.
The following morning where the sound of all these bodies falling out thei
racks due to muscle cramps where the legs didn't work right for a while. :)

Exactly. Or you think back to the story of the woman who said "I
can't be overdrawn!! I still have checks!!" :P
She obviously didn't understand the system.... ;)

Apparently, a lot of people are that way. One community in Pulaski
County, by the name of Sherwood...has a "hot check division" of their Police Department...and apparently, they're kept fairly busy.

Of course, they'd also be dealing with cases of stolen checks... are
there a lot of elderly people being taken care of by aides....? Not
that they all are dishonest, or even that most of them are.... but often
    enough they can be....

It is. Even though I've been discharged from Chapter 13 Bankruptcy,
if someone calls and tries to sell me something, I tell them "I'm in
    Bankruptcy".
That's one way to shut them up.... unless they are calling to
    supposedly repair your credit... <G>

I never did rebuild it afterwards...hopefully, that's a good thing.

No credit is slightly better than bad credit.... but only slightly... A
good payment record with a utility might encourage someone to take a
chance on one for, say, renting an apartment... :)

I still have Identity Theft Protection with Discover Card (but not the card itself) and Profile Protect through Experian...although I think
they or a related company had a massive data breach recently.

It was Equifax, another of the credit reporting companies... at least
that one was the publicized one.... who knows if the others are actually unscathed or (they and/or we) just don't know about it yet....

On one of our cordless extensions, the handset has a built-in
Tele-zapper that emits a tone supposed to tell computers that this
isn't a valid number.... it works even if one uses one of the other
handsets, as long as it is tied into the system....

Interesting. While I have the original MagicJack, and the MagicJack
plus, neither are connected to a phone line. The MagicJack takes
incoming calls, and creates a voice mail, that is sent to my email.
The MagicJack Plus goes to the fax modem. I was getting telemarketer
calls at all hours of the day and night. Plus, what I pay in a year for
2 Magic Jack lines, plus 1 "911 service fee", is like 2 months of a regular vanilla phone line from AT&T...and I can't see paying for the latter.

If it works for you, then why not.... :)

I came out smelling like a rose with only $135 a month. Others down
there were paying in the thousands to tens of thousands of dollars a
month...and several had been down there before!! When I asked why the
price difference, my attorney said "Yachts, Mansions, etc." -- I said
    "Yep, that'll do it".
You obviously stopped before you'd dug your hole quite so deep.... and
with less pricey things as well... ;)

It was well over $10,000 as I recall...and I was using the dreaded
method of 1 card to pay balances on the other...never a good thing.

Deep enough, though.... and indeed using one card to pay another is a
chancey business.... only seems to work, and not good ongoing....

After I lost my aunt while I was in bankruptcy, the money she left me
went to pay it off. I never want to go down that road again.

A good lesson to have learned, for sure... :)

... I started out with nothing. I still have most of it left.

About six weeks ago I had my savings account hacked with the perp getting over $800. It first came to my attention when the bank sent a unusual activity report. Chase is really good about that. I can either approve or dispute the transaction.
I've been working with them and getting it back and have about half so far with the rest on the way.
I can understand if they used my debit card/chequing account but they used savings and that number has never, ever, been given to anyone for any reason.

    That is odd....

I've had banks phone me to ask about a suspicious activity, too... a
very good thing to have them actively monitoring.... :)

That's a good thing... will the bank also restore the lost interest...?

As you said, the account was hacked... so someone was able to get access
to the bank itself... Was the money all taken at once, or over a period
    of time...?

Years ago, I had the experience of someone spoofing my debit card and
using it in FL for a few transactions... it caught the attention of my
bank, I disallowed the transactions, and they were able to restore my
funds... Apparently, the perps would make up fake debit cards with
random numbers, and then would try them out at say a gas station... if
the transaction went through, then they'd go to a big box store and go
to town... I'd not used that debit card as such, as I recall... and I
wasn't in FL, so it was clear it wasn't me.... ;)
