Joe,
Its call "tough love" among other things. Its when one warns another
person numerous times and they continue and something really bad happens JM>they learn they had been warned.
I've known so many nowadays that won't do such. They feel that
"spankings" and "timeouts" will ruin the child's self esteem. Well, I
got more than my share of whippings growing up, and I consider myself
better for it. I dare to say that most of those in jail were not
properly disciplined as a child.
After that incident he shaped up and got more mature and knew he was
responsible for his actions.
Some have to learn the hard way. My brother had a similar situation
years ago...yet he still drinks beer quite a bit. If he gets in jail for
DUI again, he's staying there, as I don't have the funds to bail him
out. The same goes for if he ends up writing a hot check. One area
police department makes a financial killing with it.
Yet, you can't reason with him, or so many others...and when you tell him/them that "Life Isn't Burger King...you can NOT always 'Have It Your
Way'", they get angry. I worked for BK for 5 years 40 years ago, so I
can say that.
Excuse me...I hear an order of original chicken nuggets calling me
away from the computer. <G>
