One time in one of the dorms, users were tossing a ball or doing
something.
into trouble. They are so tired after tramping all over the place all day to get
And, the student athletes especially,
The late Paul "Bear" Bryant, of Alabama...basically said
at the University Of Arkansas over 20 years ago, one student said "Iwasn't recruited to go to class. I was recruited to play basketball".
The kids are thinking, "Yeah, the 'rents are gone! Let's party!!"
Exactly. From what I understand though, there are routine
"inspections" at the dorms on the local campus.
When I told him I wasn't a meteorologist,
At one time the windows of the two twin tower dorms (15 story each)
opened, but were later sealed since students thought it was fun to throw
things on cars passing below.
One tower was male, the other female. Now all housing on campus, save
for one building, are co-ed. The one same sex dorm is female since the JM>women claimed they needed an all female dorm to protect them from boys. JM>And this dorm is always full.
Security and the cops have nicknames for some buildings and Towers
East, is "Maximum security" due to all the problems there. At one time JM>it was mostly all athletes but they are scattered about in the newer JM>buildings erected the last 15 or so years.
There are more problems with athletes on campus, in general, than any
other group. They seem to think because they toss/catch/carry a ball or JM>something they are immune to the rules everyone else lives by.
There were times one would do something and when I confronted them they
would declare "I'm an athlete!" My first response was asking "So?" then JM>"and your point is?" That burned them up!
We had a coach here for some years ago who didn't care about anything
the guys did, so long as they won games. ==sigh==
One summer I noticed this one assistant basketball coach was always
taking a player to class. I asked why and he said otherwise the guy JM>wouldn't go. (He had to wake him up, dress him, drive him to class, and JM>walk him into the room.) I asked if he were a coach or babysitter and he JM>replied he often wondered.
Sadly too often that's the mentality.
The only time something like that happens on campus is if there's a
compliant. The other students are quick to point out the odor of JM>"burning leaves" coming from a room.
And no need for a student to try and claim they were never in that room
what with all public areas on camera. "You weren't in that room? Lets JM>review the video..." :)
But I play one on bbs'. :)
