And thanks to Gordon the landlord is gonna have to do some more roof repairs while I clean up fallen soggy ceiling tiles... JoeAre these repairs that were solely caused by the storm, or were they
already starting to be needed beforehand and the storm finished them
off...?
Both.
Originally this building had a tarred roof. About 25 or so years
ago the then landlord put down a rubber type roof. Long rubber-like sheets that are slightly overlapped and glued. Fine for a slanted
roof, but this one is flat. Over time the weather dries out the glue,
the sheets come loose, etc. And where the rain leaks in could be on
the other side of the roof where the problem is.
The landlord has patched here and there but once one problem is
corrected another pops up.
IMHO, which no pays attention to, the old roof should come up and
the whole thing re-tarred. Never had a problem when tar was used. Or none to speak of.
Its when there's a long/hard rain and the water pools up the
problems start.

As you say, flat roofs do better with being tarred... now, you justneed to convince the landlord to do the proper job....
Did Gordon also have winds that peeled up the rubber sheets....?

So now the move is in process....
It was all done in one day, on October 6. I moved some stuff piece
meal before then. I still have a ton of stuff in the garage that I
haven't had the chance to unpack yet.
Is your mother doing that badly, then...? Do you have her on home
hospice, or is this just being prepared for what would come at some
time, eventually... My thoughts and prayers are with you, in any
case....
She's not qualified for hospice, but her dementia is real bad. She
turned 92 in early September.
I appreciate the thoughts and prayers...I've been on the verge of a breakdown for weeks, and I don't know how much more stress I can take.
Hopefully you'll be back before that... :)
As it turned out, I was down for over a month. I hope I'm back up
now, but it was just under tbolt.synchro.net -- cable modem and
internet issues aren't letting wx1der.dyndns.org work right now. I may have to change the BBS's website, and do new business cards for it.
We have a threat of severe weather Halloween and Wednesday night,
with a chance of storms the latter part of next week. So, I should be
up through at least Tuesday.
Eventually you'll get to it... hopefully it's well marked so if you need NB>something particular you'll have a clue where to look for it...?
Ah... so that's why you needed to move her to the nursing facility...
Hopefully things will just straighten out, and wx1der will work ok
again, too.... :) You do seem to be getting out ok now... :)
We've been having issues with our internet, too... and I've managed to NB>slip a bit behind... but things are straightening out now, I think...

Well, I have a general idea of where stuff is, but for what is
where, I haven't got a clue.
Ah... so that's why you needed to move her to the nursing facility...
That was a main requirement...dementia.

I just killed the wx1der.dyndns.org domain -- with tbolt.synchro.net
gets me a DYN server and email for free...compared to $300 I was
paying a year for the wx1der.dyndns.org domain.
We've been having issues with our internet, too... and I've managed to
slip a bit behind... but things are straightening out now, I think...
I'll probably be offline late Sunday through Election Day...we have
a potential severe weather (tornado) outbreak forecast here Monday and Monday night.
Uh-oh... Hope you can get to the unpacking pretty soon, then...
The facility is staffed around the clock, so that probably is better for NB>her... and you'll get some sleep.... ;)
Hopefully it'll just blow over... :)

I've got to get feeling better first.

for her... and you'll get some sleep.... ;)
Well, when I don't go over there...like now for a few days, while
her car is in the shop, and I do other errands...I am able to sleep in
my own bed. I doubt she'll ever come home again.
Hopefully it'll just blow over... :)
They moved the majority of the severe weather risk area east of
Little Rock,
but a strong or severe storm for us is still not out of
the question Monday afternoon and evening.
Wednesday night into Thursday, hailstorms could be a concern...then
much of north and central Arkansas may see its first frost and freeze
of the season over the weekend.
Hope you are getting there by now....
Unless it does turn out to be something reversible, and she can take
care of herself more....
Did you miss that, too....?
We've had showers interspersed with sun for the last three days... And NB>our forecast also has snow and, with lows in the 20's, sounds like frost NB>and freeze for us, too, over the weekend and into the beginning of next NB>week....
