I was telling this to someone once, who was a fan of Red Skelton's
Mean Widdle Kid, who remarked I should make sure I wasn't in anyone's
way since they might trip over me, fall and hurt themselves. :)
That's what I consider the ideal way to go... peacefully at home, surrounded by family... :)

I always joke I'll probably be found a while after the event when
someone asks "Whatever happened to what's-his-name?"
We had two people in the last couple of years who were found after
they died in their apartments.
One had been dead for a couple of weeks, and the bug man in his
monthly inspection found one who had been dead for a few days.
I asked the bug man if that were common and he said he's found
several dead bodies over the years.
He said the first couple of times it was shocking, but now its sort
of "Oh, another one".
You probably would benefit by having a friend look in on you
regularly... or have someone you call or connect to just about
daily.... :)
might if living in a single family home.... where things like mail
piling up might be visible from the street... or the mailperson might
even notice....

Yes, I remember you mentioning that before.... In an apartment complex there are not as obvious signs that someone might be in trouble as one might if living in a single family home.... where things like mail
piling up might be visible from the street... or the mailperson might
even notice....

My snail mail is checked only every few days. For the most part its
all junk mail, circulars, etc. When I was working regularly it was checked daily, but since retirement I sometimes don't leave the
apartment for several days in a row (especially when its cold out),
unless I have to be somewhere.
