since some weeks, I'm desperately trying to reach you through several channels:
Fido Netmails -> No answer
AreaFix Mails to your Mailer -> No answer
Login to your BBS -> Hangs on Mailcheck, then "Idle Timeout"..
So now I'm trying a public echo - maybe you see this, maybe someone
else can tell me what's up...
Your mailer is ignoring all my LinuxNet messages and isn't sending any mail since a month or so..
Mails to AreaFix are taken without any complaints but I never get an answer. No matter if I'm writing from my node aka or the host aka... Please get in touch with me, I'ld love to fix this...
i get random dupe pkt file names from him, with in my inbound is aGood point, but how can I tell him when the only contact details I have are ftn
dupe filename that my qico renames to pku, then hpt does not see it
until i rename it back to pkt, maybe that happend on his inbound dir aswell ? :/
maybe drop linuxnet ?I'ld rather not... I liked the idea of a linux ftn since I'm a linux admin for living, with a bbs running on linux for fun.. ..It just made so much sense.. ;) I guess, I'll wait some longer - doesn't hurt me too much.. ;)
Gert missing to run hpt pack.......Funny thing is: It all worked just fine the day before..
or some silly scripting fails in lock state
i have set 2:230/150 down todaySo you can't reach him, too? It's not only me?
Good point, but how can I tell him when the only contact details I
have are ftn akas..? ;)
Funny thing is: It all worked just fine the day before..
Then I changed a whole lot of stuff on my side: First I tried to unsubscribe from all echos. No response.
One more low chance is writing into his binkd logfile by modified
sysname, location, sysop and nodeinfo keywords.
Copy your binkd config and start it to poll with the -p -P parameter.
btxe had a bannercid keyword for modified banner lines depending on incomming caller ids but that wouldn't match your case.
Well, I don't know.. ;) I didn't receive an answer from his AreaFix confirming my changes, but I also didn't receive any echomail since then.. So chances are 50/50 I really unsubscribed or there's an earlier error on his side...Funny thing is: It all worked just fine the day before..

unsubscribe from all echos. No response.
Have you done that before successfully?
If no you may have detected some kind of config error or bug on his
side.
I've done a main link change lately and my experiance was to better do small changes with a working confirmation than change a lot of stuffYeah, in a perfect world.. ;) I had a timeframe for this since I'm pretty occupied with my daytime job and I only had half a week for this private project..
at once.
Then again: Yesterday I found him advertising his JustaXnet at the othernets fido echo.. I know that's just a cronjob but these echomails arrivind at my system do mean his config isn't completely f*cked up..

Seeing this in a binkd logfile is a rather small chance indeed,

Maybe he doesn't receive external mail at all, which should come to
his attention sooner or later or it's just the routing for my, what do
you call it, subnet? Like: No mail from 2:240/*
Then there's still a chance he sees the answer from 2:230/0 and
wonders about the missing original post...
I'ld be very interested in knowing whether his fidonet uplink has
problems reaching him, too, or not..
PS: Is there a shortkey for deleting complete lines in golded..?

Then I changed a whole lot of stuff on my side: First I tried to unsubscribe from all echos. No response..
Then changed the routing for LinuxNet anyway since I did it wrong in
the first place and tried to resubscribe to all echos. No response..
Then I switched my complete setup from binkd+mystic to binkd+husky+golded(+mystic)...
So there's a fair chance I'm the one doing wrong...
But I do know fido's working fine on my side.. So after having written several netmails over the last month, this echo was my last resort..
;)
i have set 2:230/150 down todaySo you can't reach him, too? It's not only me?
I remember a config problem of mine. An existing file causes theOf course not.. ;) I'll give it a try..
unpacker to ask for overwrite Y/N. Depending on the toss script it
could block all further tossing by lockfiles. Did you try uncompressed netmails already?
Oh! So I'm a Network Coordinator without an uplink.. ;DMaybe he doesn't receive external mail at all, which should comeI would call that a network, the 2:240/0 is the network coordinatior

Does LinuxNet have its own zone number?Yes, 110. I'm 110:310/0 and /1, he is 110:300/0 and /1
Damn! :DThen there's still a chance he sees the answer from 2:230/0 andNot if he was already set to the down status in the nodelist. In that

case no other mailer would call him anymore.
Okay, I will...I'ld be very interested in knowing whether his fidonet uplink hasWell, better discuss that via netmail with Benny. Your main goal is reached, anyone who knows Gert could see your request here.
problems reaching him, too, or not..
You wrote the situation lasts since weeks. Maybe because of that Benny said he would put Gert to the down status. I don't know if that reallyYeah, I feared so, too and noone should be set down because of what I say..! I'm just a noob, you know..? ;)
Awww... CTRL..! I did remember "something with Y", but always tried ALT.. :> Thanks a lot!PS: Is there a shortkey for deleting complete lines in golded..?Not really. ;) By default CTRL-Y removes a complete line. That's what
you want but it's not a deletetion. It's a move into the buffer, you
can call it back with CTRL-U. The buffer survives between editing
mails.
Try to use ALT-B on (set cursor into this line first) this text blockAwesome! Now I only have to memorize it.. ;>
if you quoted it. Very useful too for partial quotings.
RegardsCheers,
Kai
Yes, I did. Thank you! :)PS: Is there a shortkey for deleting complete lines in golded..?do you mean like the traditional CTRL-Y? CTRL-U will undelete them at
the current cursor position...
Well, that's part of the fun for me, so it's a no-brainer..I'ld rather not... I liked the idea of a linux ftn since I'm amy point is one less aka to make working, but keep the talk on echomail/fileecho with linux

rethink it
Why?Then changed the routing for LinuxNet anyway since I did it wronggood

'Cause I wanted to. ;)Then I switched my complete setup from binkd+mystic towhy ?
binkd+husky+golded(+mystic)...
Which pretty much is the definition of "chances"... ;) Chances are, I'm the oneSo there's a fair chance I'm the one doing wrong...no, we dont know for sure what is the real problem
Yes, that's what I said.. ..But the question is: Do YOU (being his NC, I guess?) have the same problems? Does he still poll his mail? Is there still mail coming from his system? Did you try to write him the last month of two andSo you can't reach him, too? It's not only me?well you can call him, but did you get answer from his filebot/echobot
?
good is that its only /150, /152 seems works better, i still seeSo 151 and 152 are his akas, too? I didn't check that, yet.. Will try sending hin netmails there, too... (He's 152, too - did check it now..)
random he try use /151 :/
what he is doing is only speculating here, until we are sure, keepYes, I did.
away from him, and dont send aplications forms anymore anywhere, imho fidonet do not need that, or did you send one to be on fidonet ?,
shurgs
