The Magic Bull Movement from the Symphony in C Minus
From Maurice Kinal@1:153/7001 to Johann Amadeus Majevsky on Fri May 5 06:14:22 2017
Hey Johann!
Change of kernel on the so-called wireless machine due to what appears to be soon defunct Ralink chipsets thanks to them being bought out by a company that has no linux support. Also I noticed issues with a wireless keyboard and potential problems with usb. On this machine I reverted to linux-4.4.38 and am
going to try to keep the gcc7 upgrade.
----- '<Esc>:read !uname -a' starts
Linux lilmikey 4.4.38 #1 SMP Fri May 5 02:47:23 UTC 2017 x86_64 GNU/Linux
----- '<Esc>:read !uname -a' ends
So far so good but it hasn't been long enough to make a good call ... yet. Anyhow it looks like it might be the end of the line for this machine but will probably keep it going as a wireless access point for the neighbours who are currently using it as a secure connection to the outside world.
Too bad about Ralink as they made some decent devices. Oh well, live and learn.
Life is good,
Maurice
... Don't cry for me I have vi.
