I see that we have two nodes using a SixXs tunnel. So the damage for Fidonet is

    limited.

However... If it is true that what SixXs claims, that ISPs are using the availability of Tunnel brokers as an excuse for delaying the introduction of native IPv6, others like he.net may come to the same conclusion and shut down as well. We have 16 nodes using a tunnel from he.net...

Any GNU/Linux system has it, and setting up the tunnel is as simple as:

ip tunnel add tun6 mode sit local x.x.x.x remote y.y.y.y ttl 255
ip link set dev tun6 up
ip addr add 2001:db8:::2/64 dev tun6

There was also the stats pages they showed. If I remember right, only 8 new users in all of 2016? If that were true, it's not really worth it anymore seeing as though there were thousands a few years prior.

Hopefully it does indeed kick more ISPs in the pants to move things along a little faster.

Also, while I'm posting.. I may as well let you know that TWC has been merged with another provider (I believe Charter) and is now called "Spectrum". So if you would update the IPv6 list when you have the time. Thanks!

It is true. But... They stopped accepting new users in Dec 2015 and stopped accepting requests for new tunnels in April 2016. So those figures are no surprise...

Or they give you a /48. Also static.

But... I never could reach full speed via the tunnel. 60% at best. With native

IPv6 I now have the full speed. Only a /56 but that is enough for my needs. I haven't figured out yet how to use anything beyond the first /64. And in theory

it is dynamic but my IP's (4 and 6) have not changed sice I installed my present modem/router now almost four month ago.

So I am a happy camper with native IPv6. ;-)

In Australia, Internode offer IPv6, so it need not be an empty threat. They're able to cover most of the country, having arrangements with both the DSL operators and NBN. That's where I get my native IPv6 from (one of the reasons I chose them in the first place, back when they were running trials).

Yes, but /64 is quite enough for me. :)

MvdV> But... I never could reach full speed via the tunnel. 60% at best.

My ADSL line is so slow that I can get the full speed via the HE tunnel.

I really don't care about the speed anyways... 10M is fast enough, for now.

    Hello Tommi,

On Saturday March 25 2017 08:10, you wrote to me:

MvdV>> But... I never could reach full speed via the tunnel. 60% at

My ADSL line is so slow that I can get the full speed via the HE
    tunnel.

I really don't care about the speed anyways... 10M is fast enough, for now.

I don't need the speed either. I presently have 40 Mbps, the lowest supscription my ISP offers. Last night I briefly fired up my SixXs tunnel, just

to see if it still worked and I got 11 Mbps. Fast enough for me, but what frustrated me is that I could never figure out /why/ I could not ge the full speed. I never found the bottleneck. Others in my area in similar cicumstances easely got speeds in excess of 100 Mbps via SixXs.

Well, I will never know, it is history, I now have native IPv6 and I have the same speed on IPv6 as on IPv4.

    Cheers, Michiel

Sounds like a good Plan B. he.net is probably the most reliable tunnel broker I've ever used. For me, academic now, but their service has been flawless when I have used it.

But yes indeed, the linux box did the same thing than last time. Just rebooted it, please see what happens.
