Maybe. We do see a rise. In 2016 +12 nodes. in 2017 +13 nodes. And now another +14 in the first five month. If this trend continues, we reach 87 by the end of
the year.

So to reach 100 we need some more effort.

There was some discussion about IPv6 in te Russian sysop echo. The recent rise is probably a result of that. We may even see more, there is potential in R50.

There should be potential in R24 as well. I only count 6 IPv6 nodes in R24. Just as many as in R28, but R24 is a lot bigger.

So how about you making some noise in the R24 sysop echo? ;-)

Outgoing IPv6 capability is much more usefull for the near future than inbound.
It will be a long time before there are nodes that do not have outgoing IPv4 capability. Outgoing IPv4 (at least for Fdionet) works fine from behind CGNAT. Much sooner, there will be nodes that cab only handle incoming via IPv6. So to contact those, one needs outgoing IPv6. Outgoing proxy is a lot harder.

I seem to have IPv4 and IPv6 capabilities here although I am not a network guy and don't know much about it. A couple sysops did tests for me over telnet and it worked well although my IPV6 address has since changed.

My IPv6 address is currently 2001:569:faf1:7a00:fa0f:41ff:fee9:df2f. Can you try polling that and if successful I will look into setting that up here so I will be accessible with IPv6 as well.

I am not familiar with this version. So maybe it does not support IPv6. What is
the response if you type this at the command line:

What you should see is something with IPv6. Like:

That is good news. I think but will double check that that is the right IP for the BBS machine.

I am not familiar with this version. So maybe it does not support IPv6. What is the response if you type this at the command line:

It is Synchronet's BinkIT JavaScript mailer I am running here. It will crypt sessions with binkd.

I'll be back in a short period of time after I've looked at the setup in my router. It's all new to me.. :)

I'll be back in a short period of time after I've looked at the setup
in my router. It's all new to me.. :)

Asll decent routers that support IPv6 have a firewall that blocks unsollicited incoming IPv4 packets. With IPv4 yoi have to explicitly tel the router where to
send in incoming packet. (By adding it to the NAT table). With IPv6 you do not tell an incoming packet where to go, that info is already in the IPv6 address. But you must tell the firewall to let it pass.

Sometimes this setting is misnamed "port forwarding".

I am not familiar with this version. So maybe it does not support
IPv6. What is the response if you type this at the command line:

binkd -vv

binkIT is not the same thing as binkd... binkIT is the new binkp FTN mailer written in javascript that comes with Synchronet BBS...
