  • C64 jukebox software?

    Hi! I'm looking for some music software for the C64 that can play selected songs. Any suggestions?

    you prefer MIDI?? they're small... i even have some very small and primitive tunes that use the system speaker by generating frequencies of certain durations for each note... one freq at a time... no cords or similar multiple tones... we use(d) them on our old-school DOS BBSes which are still in operation over telnet these days... some still offer dialup but they are few and far between...

    Uhh..you're a little late: I already got the information. ;)

    Was doing a few SIDs back in the day after the code for typing it down
    was released in the German 64'ER magazine. But luckily these are all lost
    so no one can torture himself with what I did back then. :-)

    Or want to play them on a PC? Then you might already have installed VLC (Video LAN Media Player), which can also play SIDs. And either find a way
    to transfer SIDs from you C64 to the PC or search for "download" "sids" "commodore" or similar. You may find the HVSID collection and also web
    page allowing selected SID classics for download.

    I'm already playing them on a PC. I just wanted to play music in the background from the C64 while doing some work on two PCs in an environment that
    prevents multi-tasking.

    You mean SIDs? You might be able to play them in a tracker on the C64,
    like Chris H|+lsbeck's Soundmonitor.

    I see you already got answers. I just would like to add that there are
    also SID players on smartphones. I personally use Modizer app, which
    is a general scene music player, it can play SIDs and it have access
    right from the app to HVSC database with tens of thousands of SID
    tracks. I know it exists for iOS, not sure about Android, but I would
    assume so.
