• Thomson 4120 monitor manu

Does anyone know of a source for documentation on this monitor, it was popular >on C128 systems. Ideally owners manual and service/schematics.

Somewhere I probably have the manual for my Thomson 4160. It also had the 4-way switch on the front. I cannot remember now what positions 1-3 did, but position 4 is the setting I used with my 8088XT. I can tell you that because it is sitting right here. :) That position allowed for CGA color. One of
the other 3 positions was some sort of color setting my XT did not support,
and the other two (one each) were for green and amber monochrome screens,
IIRC. Those settings did work with the XT but I rarely used them.

If I find it, I will post my findings here. I'd fire it up, but that'd not really help you figure out what that one non-CGA compatable setting was for.

    Mike

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I'm currently using the Thompson with some old industrial equipment which outputs CGA. Works well. I think I have the switch at position 1 but I'm not near it right now to confirm.

I recently acquired some equipment that outputs MDA and I'm trying to figure out if any of the 'monochrome' modes on the 4120 will support the 18.43khz MDA hsync. I don't want to risk damaging the 4120 display.

    Thanks
