Such a shame this message was sent between the zones, else we could
guess how many there were reading this echo (because of the seen-bys).

It's damn easy.. :)
Is mail manager easy to setup?
I never liked spot too much, I used April for most of my point
carreer, and was the maintainer / develloper for most of that time.

you know that spot can not route netmail since its only a point program
Is mail manager easy to setup?
not without a mailmanger.key, since without its limted on arexx disabled
spot olso without arexx when no key
mailmanger should be easy olso and have all a node needs to toss route BP>netmail
but i sugest crashmail/crashtick if you want to be damm stable :-)
source is on aminet for them, search aminet for april if you want source BP>for a point program

I don't remember Nico, although the name rings a bell.
Was he maybe the original writer of April?
If so I'm supprised he got an offer from scala, because the quality of the April source was poor to say the least... :-/

Cool, Ethernet networking on Amiga? Benny told me any NE2k PCMIAcard

PCMCIA = 1200.. Go for a 3com (there are drivers on aminet)! for some!

I never owned an Amiga, but somewhat recently during my research of the components in various older computers (possibly to order some of the graphic chips from an old machine for television interfacing in projects I was considering doing), I learned of what the Amiga had been capable of, and was impressed. It seemed to be ahead of its time in some respects. So I joined this echo, just to see what sort of chit chat there might have been. Unfortunately, your message seems to have been the first I've seen!
It is a shame that the entire world is now wrapped into the single user mindset of the internet. If you really want to see what social
networking is then they really should see ftn style networks.
I'm actually ikn the process of setting up my old Amiga BBS running AmiExpress. I've almost got the telnet hack working so that people can telnet into it. I'm just wondering how many people will actually care.

I used to run an Amiga BBS using TransAmiga. I've recently pulled the machine and HDs out of storage, and miraculously, everything actually
works.
I've successfully transferred and run it from an emulator under Windows
(no success on OSX, though, is UAE the best there is?), but thought it
might be interesting to use the real hardware to bring it online via
telnet.
Unfortunately, I've got no idea where to begin. I've seen at least
one AmiExpress system running on authentic hardware but didn't see much
info on how it was done. Any pointers would be appreciated!

Good news is, I'm pretty sure almost all the Amigas had RS-232 serial ports, so you should be able to use a common null modem cable to hook
need to find some software, presumably for OSX in your case, to listen
on a TCP connection on your main computer, and pass communication
through your serial port. Since OSX is based on Unix, this might end
up being fairly simple to do already without even downloading anything, since I know Linux can do it, but I have no idea off the top of my head

I'm workng on getting an AmiExpress system running on a 1200 and it's almost done, i'm just waiting on a pcmcia network card that will work
with it in order to run telnetd.device so people can telnet it. I
built the system in UAE and transfered it over to the 1200 once I was done. It was easy to pull it off on my laptop then shoot it over to
the orginal hardware. I'm running UAE on my Mac without a problem
using E-UAE for the Mac and Hi-Toro as a GUI for E-UAE. If you google
it you'll find it.
If you need any help drop me a netmail and i'd be more than glad to
help out.

The best thing to do is copy the uae config file from Amiga Forever
over to the Mac and just chage the paths to reflect the location of the roms and drives in OSX. Actually I coppied all the roms and hard drive files over to Leopard and just tweaked the paths as I mentioned above.
4.12 seems to be the last version I could find and I could not find
anyone anywhere that claimed any rights to it. The number that was on
the registration card is diconnected. I'm assuming it is abandonware
Are you still able to find utilities/doors for it? I guess I should take
a poke through Aminet to see what's around. TransAmiga pickings are scarce, but they weren't all that plentiful even when the system was being maintained.
There are a few of use that frequent this echo. There's not alot of traffic, but it comes and goes..

Having never owned any actual Amiga hardware, I must admit I had no idea tha any Amiga had a pcmcia slot until I saw it mentioned here. I'd have never guessed, since it seems an odd thing for a desktop machine to have. But it certainly opens up the possibility for expansion, even today, despite only being the 16-bit style port.

There are drivers on aminet for cards based on that guy.

I used one for a short time, when I had a A1200. (few years ago)
That may depend on where you are geographically and
whether mention is made of it outside the AMIGA echo ;-) Out of interest, wh hardware are you running it on?
Just be careful of the cable wiring. The Amiga was
unusual in that some pins supplied power for external peripherals. I have s Amigas that were destroyed when they were plugged into the wrong cable. Alw make sure your Amiga is switched off before you plug or unplug cables or devices into the serial or parallel port.
The A600 "June Bug" was more compact still, though not
as powerful (equivalent to an Amiga 500+). It too featured the PC-Card slot When I came to live in the U.S. about ten years ago, I brought an A600 in my carry-on luggage.

Handy both for homebrew electronics people and for
peripheral manufacturers. I never did figure out what the audio in was
for though, afaik Paula didn't have an ADC.
Both of those are nice machines. I miss my A1200.
Yes it works quite stable. Many Amiga systems have used the same
hack to move their systems to the telnet world for years now.

I still have a working Amiga I'm game for it, but I'm not programming much anymore and to be honest I'm not so certain I can remember much about how to work the darn thing.
I'm game to revive it, just sad that Asha has passed away before I found out by googling her.
