  • Two questions...

    These are probably easy questions to the experienced user...

    Using Workbench 2.1 (due to my kickstart and the workbench fits on a floppy)

    1) How do you save the settings of the ramdisk? Remember, no hard drive, just floppies.

    2) When I uncompress something, the output window cannot be closed by clicking in the corner like other windows. What are some commands I can use to

    exit out of the window?

    Ram Disk exists in Fast Ram, not as a physical device. I'm guessing, but
    your settings are probably in your Prefs or S dirsctories.

    2) When I uncompress something, the output window cannot be closed
    by
    clicking in the corner like other windows. What are some commands I
    can use to exit out of the window?

    Try typing "endcli" or "endshell".

    You don't, not with the stock RAM disk. First, the RAM disk is dynamically sizing - it will take as much as it needs, up to all available RAM...which would overwhelm a 880K floppy disk. It is intended to be transient, although many floppy users would copy oft-used tools (mostly command-line) into the RAM disk during the boot sequence for more speed during use.

    For static-sized RAM disks that may or may not actually load a preimage from floppy ;), try Aminet.

    Can you provide more details on exactly what you're doing? What tool are you using to decompress, how are you executing it, etc.

    Can you provide more details on exactly what you're doing? What tool are you using to decompress, how are you executing it, etc.

    One I got from the minet I believe.. a LHA utility. (I know that doesn't narrow it down, but that is the size of it.) ;)

    Hmmm... tried that with nothing. I'm starting to believe my Amiga is just wierd. :) This problem stumped, at least temporarily, the experts in my local Amiga chapter last Monday night.

    I've used HappyEnv.lha The Env is stored automatically to disk. I don't know if it works with floppy.

    BBS ads are notorious for popup ads in the background. Ever try pulling down the screens/windows to see to the back. Usually they're shell windows. Get
    to them with back gadget and a <return> clears them.
