    The problem is that SMB/CIFS relies on this, and if you remove this
    'feature',
    lots of things will break. The problem is that MS cannot reinvent the wheel without breaking everything in the past, and they know that can't mandate an upgrade everywhere simultaneously.

    port 135 is blocked in my shorewall :-)

    nt kernels have bugs thay can't fix in the same trouble, so thay trying to patch programs around it to fix the trouble, if it was linux the kernel was fixed :-)
